This week, we talk to Stephen Gallagher, Deputy Director of Public Bodies and Public Service Reform, Scottish Government as we move further down into the u.process to the Presencing stage or “the bottom of the U”. Presencing is one of those words that doesn’t always sit easily with people but is a blend of sensing what might be possible and being present in the moment. It is a hugely important part of making change because it help you tap into the internal motivations and beliefs on which we act – the inner place from which we operate – that in many ways can stay hidden from us when we’re working hard and under increasing pressure.
Stephen talks about how working through the u.process helped him connect better with who he is and how it feels to be in the midst of a change. Stephen took part in an residential u.process course last summer, rather than the online u.lab. Watch below to hear his story.
To hear more about how the u.process has impacted on Stephen and his work, and how he has integrated the tools and “way of being” in his work with partners inside and outside of the government, watch the video below.
Next week, we hear more about the Presencing stage in the u.process from Eleanor Ogilvie, Programme Manager at SeeMe, Scotland’s programme to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination.
Nice to hear this. Leaves me wondering how we best get feedback about ourselves and also whether we can share some examples of how we were different? Many thanks.
